A Pneumatic 'I' Fitting, often called a Straight Union or Straight Connector, is a basic and essential component in a compressed air system. Its function is straightforward: to securely and directly connect two pieces of pneumatic tubing of the same outer diameter in a straight line. Key Characteristics Shape: It is straight and generally symmetrical, resembling the letter 'I'. Function: It is used to extend a pneumatic line or to join a break in the tubing while maintaining a straight path for the compressed air. Connection Type: Most modern 'I' fittings are Push-to-Connect (or 'Push-In') fittings. This means the tubing is simply pushed into the ports, where an internal collet and O-ring create a secure, leak-proof seal without the need for tools, glues, or crimping. Ports: It typically has two ports, both designed to accept the tubing.
